UN secretary general Kofi Annan and his wife Nane, the niece of Raul Wallenberg, who as a Swedish diplomat saved tens of thousands of Jews during the holocaust, in addition to forty presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers and mayors, participated in an international demonstration against anti-Semitism at the inauguration of the new holocaust memorial museum in Jerusalem.

German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer: “This is a moment of commemoration for the 6 million murdered by Nazi Germany. Of course Germany is my country, so it’s also a historical and moral responsibility to never forget what happened and the responsibility of my country for the Shoah.”
President Moshe Katsav: “We are concerned about Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism. Europe must accept the burden of the memory and lessons of the Holocaust for the future it is building. It owes this to the millions of Jews who were murdered on its soil.”
