Irena Sendler, who risked her life to save some 250 Jewish children

This is Irena Sendler, a courageous Polish social worker, who risked her life to save some 2,500 Jewish children during World War II.

Irena Sendler repeatedly entered the Warsaw ghetto to smuggle out Jewish children. The Yad VaShem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem has recommended that this year’s Nobel Peace Prize be awarded to Irena Sendler and other ‘Righteous Gentiles’ who rescued Jews during World War II.
