Likud And Labor Coalition Talks Break Down Analyst David Essing: ‘Current Stalemate Is Temporary Halt In Order To Move Forward’
Labor party negotiators have walked out of coalition talks with the ruling Likud party. The stalemate is over Labor’s demand for a $130 million dollar increase in welfare and old age pensions as well as cabinet portfolios. While a deal with United Torah Judaism has apparently been worked out this is not the case with another ultra-orthodox party Shas. Interviewed on IBA television , analyst David Essing told Yochanan Elrom that despite the current snag, Labor will join Sharon’s new coalition government.
