In London, Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has presented his unilateral realignment plan to British leader Tony Blair. Listen to excerpts from the Blair-Olmert news conference.

Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has good reason to be pleased with the position of his British counter- part Tony Blair. After their meeting with at 10 Downing Street, the British leader declared the Palestinians must recognize the state of Israel, renounce violence and adhere to the Roadmap peace plan. Olmert called these conditions non- negotiable. At the same time, Blair was less enthusiastic about Olmert's 'realignment plan' to unilaterally withdraw from 90% of the West Bank and maintain the main settlement blocs behind the security fence. But Blair did say that Olmert was very sincere in seeking a negotiated peace agreement. The Israeli leader said he would make every possible effort to establish a dialogue with Palestinian chairman Mahmoud Abbas before they meet in the coming weeks.

As for Iran, Olmert declared that Israel would not tolerate nuclear weapons in the hands of a state calling to wipe Israel off the map.

What are the prospects for Israeli- Palestinians peace talks now that a Hamas government is in power? Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is calling for a referendum to halt the terrorism inside Israel and start negotiating the Roadmap. However, his Fatah supporters are now embroiled in a bloody power struggle with Hamas that shows no sign of abating.
