Has Turkey now permitted an ISIL attack against the beleaguered Kurdish town of Kobani just over the Syrian border?

According to the Associated Press, the ISIL assault was launched by a suicide bomber driving an armored vehicle across the Turkish border:

"Beirut (AP): The Islamic State group launched an attack on the Syrian border town of Kobani - a first in the ongoing siege, a Kurdish official and activist said."

He was identified as Nawaf Khalil a spokesman for the Kurdish Democratic party. In Khalil's words:

"ISIL used to attack the town (of Kobani) from three sides. Today they are attacking from four sides."

There is no question that ISIL could not have launched the attack from across the Turkish border without the green light from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Turkish Army has deployed a cordon of tanks along its border with Syria to bar Turkish volunteers from reaching Kobani, which has been under ISIL attack since September.

Erdogan has also adamantly refused to allow the Americans to launch air strikes against IS from the Incirlik air base in Turkey...

Erdogan is opposed to an augmentation of the Kurdish forces in Syria and elsewhere for fear this will strengthen their national aspirations for an independent state in the region. The Kurds live at the crossroads bordering on Syria, Iraq, Turkey and Iran. (They were left out when the region was carved out by The Great Powers after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in World War One.) Erdogan has also adamantly refused to allow the Americans to launch air strikes against IS from the Incirlik air base in Turkey although Ankara, a NATO member, is considered to be a key American ally in the Middle East.

On this score, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has even accused Turkey's policies of encouraging the rise of Islamic State. Erdogan is known to have allowed IS volunteers to enter Syria and Iraq via Turkey. This is only half of the perfidious role being played by the Turkish leader. Erdogan has also been hosting the military wing of Hamas, which was expelled from Damascus as a result of the Syrian civil war.

Saleh Aruri, a top Hamas commander, set up shop in Turkey, where he organized the big terror ring that was smashed recently by Israel's Shabak security service. Some 30 terrorists, who were actually trained in Turkey, have been arrested along with arms and explosives. Their goal was to execute mass terror attacks in Jerusalem's Teddy soccer stadium and on the city's light rail system.

The worst thing about it is that it has insulted the highly respected Druze citizens of Israel.

 What are blood brothers for!

Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu should drop his proposed bill to declare Israel the homeland of the Jewish people and a democracy. Most legal experts, current President Reuven Rivlin, and his predecessor Shimon Peres have already condemned it as both unnecessary and damaging. The worst thing about it is that it has insulted the highly respected Druze citizens of Israel.

Druze mother and her two sons - one an officer in the IDF, the other an officer in Israeli Police Force.

They may number only 124,000 of the overall population of over eight million, but they serve as a model for integration and loyalty to the Jewish state. They serve in IDF combat units, Border Guards, and the Israeli Police. Many of them have been killed and wounded on duty. In the recent wave of terror attacks in Jerusalem, two Druze policemen were killed. Netanyahu has declared repeatedly that his proposed bill will not have any effect on Israel's minorities, and most certainly not the proud Druze and what is referred to as their 'bond of blood' with Israel. However, this does not cut any ice with the Druze, who contend that Netanyahu has let them down with his proposed bill.

Patan Nasraladin is a Druze woman serving as an officer in the Israeli police force.

So Mr. Prime Minister, wake-up and drop it before it's too late. Although an early election may be in the offing, this does not justify pandering to the far Right-wing at the expense of the Druze! On the contrary, Israel should declare that if Islamic State threatens Druze communities in Syria or Lebanon, Israel will come to their aid. Isn't this what 'blood brothers' are for?

According to Wikipedia: ‘The Druze are a monotheistic, religious and social community found primarily in Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Jordan. Their religion is rooted in Islamism, a branch of Shia Islam, but Druze beliefs also incorporate elements from Abrahamic religions, as well as Gnosticism, and other philosophies creating a distinct theology...they are known to form a close knit and cohesive social community, but also to integrate fully in their adopted homelands'.
